Whether it's for yourself or a loved one, the choice to seek professional help for a drug and alcohol addiction is one of the most important decisions you can make in order to regain control of your life. And while it would seem to be an easy choice to make, actually committing oneself to seeking out the help needed can be a difficult decision to make for the person suffering from the disease. The fear of admitting the problem, or failing at recovery, can be overwhelming to say the least. During these times of doubt, it's important to remember that people all across the U.S. win their battles with drug and alcohol addiction every day through effective drug and alcohol treatment programs. In some cases, drug rehabilitation is not an elective decision but rather a mandatory process due to being criminally charged with a non-violent drug offense. People Inc. has collaborated with the Sequoyah County Drug Court which is a specialty court dedicated to the supervised rehabilitation of non-violent drug offenders, which in some cases is offered as an alternative to prison. Within a cooperative courtroom atmosphere, the judge heads a team of court staff, attorneys, probation officers, substance abuse evaluators, and treatment professionals all working together to support and monitor a participant's recovery.
